Warren Beatty to Write Direct and Produce Untitled Comedy

Beatty ends decade-long hiatus for untitled comedy.

After a more than a decade away from the director’s chair Warren Beatty is set to return to filmmaking. His last time behind the camera was the 1998 political comedy ‘Bullworth.’

THR reports that the filmmaker is set to write, produce and direct an untitled comedy for Paramount Pictures. Plot details are unknown but Paramount CEO Brad Grey says:

“Warren’s script is quintessential Beatty, elegantly written and wonderfully entertaining. It is our privilege to have one of the great artists in the history of the film industry come home to Paramount.”

Beatty and the studio previously worked together on 1978’s ‘Heaven Can Wait’ and 1981’s ‘Reds.’ Production on the untitled comedy is set to start later this year.

Beatty is also developing a sequel to his 1990 comic strip adaptation, ‘Dick Tracy.’
