Wally Pfister’s TRANSCENDENCE Adds Kate Mara

Film also stars Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall and Paul Bettany.

Kate Mara (‘House of Cards,’ ‘10 Years,’ ‘American Horror Story’) has become the latest addition to ‘Transcendence,’ the upcoming directorial debut of Christopher Nolan’s longtime cinematographer Wally Pfister.

With Johnny Depp, and British stars Paul Bettany (‘Priest,’ ‘Margin Call’) and Rebecca Hall (‘The Awakening,’ ‘The Town’) attached to star, the sci-fi plot follows two leading computer scientists who work toward their goal of Technological Singularity, as a radical anti-technology organization fights to prevent them from creating a world where computers can transcend the abilities of the human brain.

Mara’s sister, ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ star Rooney Mara was considered for the role that ended up going to Hall.

Pfister is set to begin principal photography next month with in Los Angeles with Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas and Aaron Ryder serving as executive producers.
