Verbinksis Bioshock Halted

Gore Verbinksi’s BioShock FLICK halted in budget shock…

Production on Gore Verbinksi’s long anticipated film adaptation of Bioshock have been halted.

According to Variety the decision to halt production relates to budgetary constraints. Shooting the film in Los Angeles would have reportedly cost Universal $160 million, a bill the studio was unwilling to foot. Alternate locations around the UK are currently being sought so filming can commence:

“We were asked by Universal to move the film outside the US to take advantage of a tax credit,” Verbinski said. “We are evaluating whether this is something we want to do. In the meantime, the film is in a holding pattern.”

The sequel to the 2007 original, BioShock 2, is expected to be released later this year.
