TRICK ‘R TREAT Sequel Confirmed

Sam is back!

A sequel to writer/director Michael Dougherty’s Halloween horror-comedy anthology ‘Trick ‘r Treat’ is officially in development. Dougherty confirmed plans for the sequel following last night’s screening of the first film, which closed out Los Angeles’ genre film festival, Beyond Fest.

Originally scheduled for release back in 2007, the first time ended up sitting on a shelf for two years before being released straight straight-to-DVD/Blu-ray where it became an instant cult classic.

‘Trick ‘r Treat’ features four interwoven Halloween stories: An everyday high school principal (Dylan Baker) has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin (Anna Paquin) might have just met the one guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank; a woman (Leslie Bibb) who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband (Tahmoh Penikett). Enforcing the Spirit of Halloween throughout the film is Sam (played by Quinn Lord), a seemingly innocent masked trick-or-treater.

“I think we’ll shake it up a little bit,” Dougherty told EW. “There are different archetypes I’d like to explore, different types of monsters. We covered werewolves, vampires, and zombies, but there’s a whole slew of different creatures out there that we haven’t tackled, and I think Sam would probably be pretty good buddies with. So I think it’s time to let them have their time in the sun.”
