In surprising news, Deadline’s Mike Fleming hears that Ben Wheatley (‘Kill List,’ ‘High Rise,’ ‘Sightseers,’ ‘A Field in England,’ ‘Free Fire’) has signed on to take the helm for a sequel to 2018’s ‘Tomb Raider.’
The sequel, pencilled in for a March 2021 release, will see Alicia Vikander reprise her role as the iconic treasure-hunting action heroine Lara Croft.
Wheatley’s longtime writing partner and wife Amy Jump will shape the script, with Graham King and his GK Films producing alongside Elizabeth Cantillon (‘The Girl in the Spider’s Web,’ ‘Charlie’s Angels’).
