Tom Hooper’s THE DANISH GIRL Adds Alicia Vikander and Amber Heard

Vikander and Heard take supporting roles…

Alicia Vikander (‘The Seventh Son’) and Amber Heard (‘Magic Mike XXL’) are set to join Eddie Redmayne (‘The Theory of Everything’) on the cast of Tom Hooper’s ‘The Danish Girl.’

Inspired by David Ebershoff’s 2001 novel of the same name, the film is a love story about Danish painter Einar Wegener and his wife, fellow artist Gerda Gottlieb. In 1930, Wegener was one of the first-ever recipients of a gender reassignment surgery, officially becoming Lili Elbe.

Alicia Vikander will take the role of Gerda, while Deadline adds that Heard is in line to play Oola.

Hooper will direct ‘The Danish Girl’ from a screenplay by Lucinda Coxon. Gail Mutrux and her Pretty Pictures banner are producing alongside Anne Harrison and Linda Reisman.
