Tom Holland Lands WWII Thriller BENEATH A SCARLET SKY

‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ star Tom Holland is set to take the lead in ‘Beneath A Scarlet Sky,’ a World War II-set spy thriller that will tell the remarkable story of forgotten hero Pino Lella, says Deadline.

Adapted from Mark Sullivan’s novel the same name, the film follows Lella, a normal 17-year-old Italian – obsessed with music, food, and girls – whose days of innocence are numbered when his family home in Milan is destroyed bombs. Incited by the Nazi atrocities, Lella joins an underground railroad helping Jews escape over the Alps.

On his 18th birthday, in an attempt to protect him, Lella’s parents force him to enlist as a German soldier – a move they think will keep the teenager out of combat.

Nevertheless, the young man is injured, and immediately assigned as a personal driver to Hitler’s left hand, General Hans Leyers, giving Lella the opportunity to spy for the Allies and help turn the tides of the war.

‘Beneath A Scarlet Sky’ reunites Holland with his ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ producer Amy Pascal, who acquired rights to Sullivan’s novel.
