Deadline’s Mike Fleming is hearing word that ‘Spider-Man Homecoming’ star Tom Holland is attached to headline Sony’s long-in-the-works adaptation of ‘Uncharted.’

Created and developed by Naughty Dog, the ‘Uncharted’ series follows treasure hunter Nathan “Nate” Drake, a descendant of explorer Sir Francis Drake, as he travels around the world to uncover various historical mysteries.

Shawn Levy (‘Stranger Things,’ ‘This Is Where I Leave You’) is behind the camera, with the film taking inspiration from the third installment of the franchise, ‘Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception,’ which has flashback sequences focusing on the young Drake meeting Victor “Sully” Sullivan, his mentor and future partner-in-crime.

A live-action adaptation of the top-selling franchise has been in development for a number of years now and has had several prominent filmmakers involved in that time, including ‘American Hustle’ helmer David O Russell, Seth Gordon (‘Horrible Bosses’) and Neil Burger (‘Limitless’). Levy stepped in to take the reins in 2016.

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING – Irish release date is July 7, 2017.
