Hanks to lead adaptation of 2012 bestseller.

Mike Fleming over at Deadline is hearing that Tom Hanks and ‘Cloud Atlas’ co-director Tom Twyker are reuniting for an adaptation of the David Eggers bestseller ‘A Hologram for the King.’

The tale is set in Saudi Arabia and follows Alan Clay (Hanks), a struggling businessman who, after failing in America, heads over to the Arab state in a last-ditch attempt to stave off foreclosure, pay for his daughter’s college tuition, and finally do something great.

Hanks and Playtone partner Gary Goetzman will produce the adaptation alongside Tykwer and his X Filme Creative Pool producers Stefan Arndt and Uwe Schott.
