Tom Hanks Confirmed For Triple Frontier

Hanks will star in Bigelow’s Hurt Locker follow-up.

During an interview with ComingSoon, producer Charles Roven confirmed that Tom Hanks is the first official cast member to join Kathryn Bigelow’s “Triple Frontier.”

“Tom Hanks is starring in the film,” Roven said, “and we’re still looking to cast the other roles. We’re hoping to start shooting the movie sometime in mid-March.”

Details are still tight on the film which is scripted by Mark Boal, and there’s no word yet on Hanks’ role, but the project has been described as a “Traffic”-esque tale set in the notorious, crime-ridden border region between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay known as ‘la triple frontera.’ Early reports have also suggested the film may be a multilingual affair as well

It is thought the movie would be undergoing a name change and would be retitled to “Sleeping Dogs.” Though Roven did not speak specifically to the title change, he referred to the project by the former title.

And with “Triple Frontier” now only a few months away from shooting, more details should be on the way in the weeks to come.
