Timberlake Offered Role in Coen Brothers

Coens offer Timberlake role in folk-music drama.

Variety is reporting that singer-turned-actor Justin Timberlake has been offered one of the lead roles in the Coen brothers’ next, the folk film ‘Inside Llewyn Davis.’

The film focuses on the folk music scene in Greenwich Village in the 1960s and stars Oscar Isaac (‘Drive’) as the title character, a struggling folk musician born and bred in Queens, New York. The character is loosely based on folk singer Dave Van Ronk aka “The Mayor of MacDougal Street.” According to the trade, Timberlake would be playing Jim, a folk musician married to Jean, who will be played by Carey Mulligan.

Timberlake will next be seen starring in Andrew Niccol’s ‘In Time’ alongside Amanda Seyfried and Cillian Murphy. The stylish sci-fi thriller opens in Irish cinemas this week.
