Drama fills out cast as filming gets underway…

Kristen Stewart (‘On The Road,’ ‘The Twilight‘ Saga,’ ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’) has scored a small role in actor-turned-filmmaker Tim Blake Nelson‘s next directorial effort, ‘Anesthesia,’ joining an ensemble cast that includes Sam Waterston (‘The Newsroom’), Glenn Close (‘Damages’), Corey Stoll (‘House of Cards’) and Gretchen Mol (‘Boardwalk Empire’).

Scripted by Nelson, the indie drama follows “the disparate stories of New Yorkers whose lives come together after the violent mugging of a Columbia University philosophy professor.”

Deadline has Waterston in the role of the professor, Walter Zarrow, Close playing his wife Marcia, with Stoll as an investment banker who witnesses the attack and Mol as his wife, an alcoholic New Jersey homemaker. Stewart’s role will be that of Sophie, one of Zarrow’s students. Nelson himself will be playing Zarrow’s son.

Michael K. Williams (‘Boardwalk Empire’), Jessica Hecht (‘Breaking Bad’), Mickey Sumner (‘Frances Ha’), and K. Todd Freeman (‘The Dark Knight’) co-star.

Principal photography kicked off this week in New York City.
