Til Schweiger and Melissa Leo Join THE NECESSARY DEATH OF CHARLIE COUNTRYMAN

Gritty pulp romance adds two more.

Til Schweiger (‘New Year’s Eve,’ ‘Inglourious Basterds’) has joined the cast of Fredrik Bond’s ‘The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman.’

Starring Shia LaBeouf as the titular character, the gritty pulp romancer follows a normal guy who falls for a woman (Evan Rachel Wood) who has been claimed by a violent crime boss (Mads Mikkelsen).

Schweiger will take the role of Darko, “a Serbian gangster and former paramilitary fighter who relocated to Budapest to run a strip club and avoid a war crimes tribunal.”

Also joining the cast is ‘Red State’ and ‘Fighter’ actress Melissa Leo, playing the role of LaBeouf’s late mother, “whose spirit continues to visit and advise Charlie.”

Variety adds that James Buckley of ‘The Inbetweeners’ is being eyed for a supporting role.
