Pierce Brosnan discusses ‘Thomas Crown’ sequel

Pierce Brosnan has disclosed details of the sequel to his 1999 crime thriller The Thomas Crown Affair.

Speaking to reporters, the former Bond actor revealed that the movie will be a remake of 1964 film Topkapi, a caper about the theft of a rare jewel from an Istanbul museum.

“We are just using a sliver of that,” he said, adding that Rene Russo will not return as his love interest in the follow-up. “This is a different affair,” he stated.

Brosnan claimed that he is looking forward to working with Basic Instinct director Paul Verhoeven, saying: “He does sexy well. I will have to go to the gym to get rid of my Mamma Mia! middle.”

According to Brosnan we could be seeing the sequel in cinemas as soon as next year.
