Filmmaker set for adaptation….

‘Monte Carlo’ and ‘The Family Stone’ writer/director Thomas Bezucha has signed on to take the director’s chair for ‘The Art of Racing on the Rain,’ an adaptation of the bestselling philosophical novel by Garth Stein.

The story centres on Enzo, a dog with a nearly human soul who looks at his life via the lessons learned by his up-and-coming race car driver owner Denny Swift.

Mark Bomback (‘The Wolverine,’ ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’) penned the most recent draft of the script.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ actor Patrick Dempsey, who was attached to star back in 2009, remains on board as producer, with Original Film’s Neal Moritz. Tania Landau and Joannie Burstein serving as executive producers.
