THE STAND Eyes Josh Boone

Post-apocalyptic epic lines up new director…

‘The Fault in Our Stars’ and ‘Stuck in Love’ helmer Josh Boone has become the latest name to be linked to the long-in-development big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘The Stand.’

Boone, according to TheWrap’s sources, is “nearing a deal” to write and direct the adaptation with plans for “a single, R-rated movie that will be faithful” to King’s epic tale of good versus evil.

Originally published in 1978, the novel is set in a post-apocalyptic world and follows a band of survivors who find themselves up against Randall Flagg, the Walkin’ Dude, an Antichrist-like figure with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers.

Boone would be replacing Scott Cooper (‘Out of the Furnace,’ ‘Crazy Heart’), who bowed out late last year due to “creative differences.”
