Graphic novel adaptation gearing up for autumn start.
It has been announced that John Pogue (‘The Quiet Ones,’ ‘Quarantine 2: Terminal’) is attached to direct a feature adaptation of the upcoming Oni Press graphic novel ‘Ciudad.’
Created by ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ helmers Joe and Anthony Russo, and comic book scribes Ande Parks and Fernando Leon, the story follows a weary mercenary who is hired by a Brazilian drug lord to extract his daughter from one of the world’s most dangerous and corrupt cities: Paraguay’s Ciudad del Este. Russo is on board to provide the script.
We first heard of the project last year when it was revealed that Dwayne Johnson (‘Fast & Furious 7,’ ‘Pain & Gain’) was circling the lead, although the wrestler turned actor appears to be out of the mix.
Eric Gitter and Peter Schwerin are producing the project through Closed on Mondays Entertainment with production aiming for an autumn start with
