Frank Castle getting procedural drama treatment.

Marvel’s iconic antihero The Punisher is headed to TV, reports Deadline. Fox has ordered an hour-long procedural drama centered on vigilante Frank Castle.

In the comics, Castle, a war veteran, is driven by deaths of his wife and kids at the hands of the mob. He carries out his war on crime by dealing out his own brand of justice -murder, kidnapping, extortion, coercion, threats of violence, and torture. This new take on the murderous vigilante has Castle as a rising star detective with the New York Police Department who moonlights as the vigilante Punisher, seeking justice for those the system has failed.

Former ‘Criminal Minds’ showrunner Ed Bernero will produce, alongside ABC Studios and Marvel Studios. Bernero also has a high-concept Western titled ‘The Eye’ setup at ABC.
