THE GRUDGE To Get Reboot Treatment

Horror franchise next for unnecessary reboot…

Deadline’s Mike Fleming is hearing that Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures and Good Universe have plans to reboot ‘The Grudge,’ tapping ‘Midnight Meat Train’ writer Jeff Buhler to pen the script.

An English-language remake of Takashi Shimizu’s 2002 Japanese film ‘Ju-on: The Grudge,’ the original starred Sarah Michelle Gellar as a nurse living and working in Tokyo who is exposed to a mysterious supernatural curse, one that locks a person in a powerful rage before claiming their life and spreading to another victim.

Raimi will produce the reboot with Ghost House partner Rob Tapert, and Taka Ichise. Roy Lee, Doug Davison, Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane are on board as executive producers.
