THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO Sequel Still Moving Forward

Sequels still on track for release.

Despite claims that David Fincher’s adaptation of ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ has somewhat under performed at the box office, a Sony Pictures rep has told Entertainment Weekly that the next installment in author Stieg Larsson’s Millennium trilogy, ‘The Girl Who Played with Fire,’ is still on track for a late 2013 release date.

“[Dragon Tattoo] continues to do strong business and nothing has changed with respect to development of the next book.”

Steven Zaillian, who adapted ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ for Fincher, is currently working away on the script for ‘The Girl Who Played with Fire.’ Fincher has not yet confirmed if he will return to the director’s chair for the adaptation, but has previously expressed interest in shooting the two films back-to-back. Stars Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig are both signed up for the sequels.
