THE EXORCIST Being Revamped For TV

Seminal horror classic heading to the small screen with revamp.

‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’ writer-director Sean Durkin is currently in the process of turning William Peter Blatty’s best-selling novel ‘The Excorist’ into a ten-episode TV series.

According to Vulture, this new adaptation will differ from the iconic 1973 film, with Durkin’s version set to delve into “the events leading up to a demonic possession and especially the after-effects of how a family copes with it. When medical and psychiatric explanations fail, the desperate family turns to the church, with Father Damien Karras finally brought in to attempt the exorcism.”

Roy Lee (‘The Ring,’ ‘The Grudge,’ ‘The Departed’) is on board as producer, and the already much-buzzed-about revamp is expected be formally shopped around to networks in the coming weeks.
