THE EQUALIZER Finds Its Villain

Reboots locks in its big bad.

Marton Csokas (‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2,’ ‘Rogue,’ ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,’ ‘The Lord of the Rings’) has been tapped to take the villain role opposite Denzel Washington in Sony’s big screen reboot of the 1980’s TV series ‘The Equalizer,’ reports Heat Vision.

Washington is playing Robert McCall, a former intelligence officer who tries to atone for his past sins by offering his services as a trouble shooter, a protector, and an investigator to those who have been wronged. According to the site, the reboot finds McCall living “a quiet life while working at a Home Depot, when one act of kindness toward a prostitute (played by Chloë Moretz) gets him embroiled with the Russian mob.”

New Zealand Csokas will play the movie’s big bad, “a vicious fixer for the Russians.”

Antoine Fuqua is attached to direct with production planned for this summer in Boston.
