THE DUKE OF BURGUNDY to be Directed by Peter Strickland

British filmmaker selects next directing gig.

It has been announced that ‘Berberian Sound Studio’ writer/director Peter Strickland has selected ‘The Duke of Burgundy’ as his next directorial effort.

Described as a dark melodrama, the film has Chiara D’Anna (‘Berberian Sound Studio’) attached to play an amateur lepidopterist whose wayward desires test the limits of her lover’s tolerance.

“After damaging my eardrums with too many screams during the ‘Berberian’ sound mix, I wanted to make something tender and quiet, but also quite intense. It’s a simple love story about a devoted couple whose intimate needs are rarely in harmony,” said Strickland.

The film is set to begin shooting next year with the British Film Institute financing. ‘Kill List’ and ‘Sightseers’ writer/director Ben Wheatley will produce via his Rook Films banner.
