THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Casts Paul Bettany As Vision

Will Ultron get the better of J.A.R.V.I.S.?

Paul Bettany (‘Transcendence,’ ‘Margin Call’) has had his role on Marvel’s ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’ upgraded. The English actor, best known in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe for providing the voice of Tony Stark’s A.I. system J.A.R.V.I.S., has been cast as comics favourite Vision.

The Daily Mail’s Baz Bamigboye was the first to report on Bettany’s new role, with Variety later confirming.

An early iteration of Vision first appeared in the Marvel Comic Universe back in 1940, but it wasn’t until 1968 that the character became associated with the Avengers. Created by the sentient super-bot Ultron (to be played by James Spader in the upcoming movie) as a weapon to be used against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Vision eventually rebelled against his creator, and went on to become a full member of superhero team.

Joss Whedon’s star-studded sequel is gearing up to start shooting next month on locations in the UK and South Africa, with release pencilled in for May 2015.
