Howard joins impressive cast of the kidnap drama.

Deadline is reporting that director Denis Villeneuve has added Terrence Howard (‘Movie 43,’ ‘Red Tails,’ ‘On The Road’) to the cast of his upcoming thriller ‘Prisoners.’ Howard rounds out an ensemble cast that includes Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Melissa Leo, Viola Davis, Maria Bello and Paul Dano.

Penned by ‘Contraband’ screenwriter Aaron Guzikowski, the plot revolves around Jackman’s character, Keller Dover, a small-town carpenter whose young daughter and her best friend are abducted. After the cops fail to find them, Dover takes the law into his own hands, but in the process runs up against a detective (Gyllenhaal), a hot-shot cop with confidence to burn, assigned to the case.

Principal photography is set for February with Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson are producing along with Kira Davis of 8:38 Productions and Madhouse Entertainment’s Adam Kolbrenner. Ed McDonnell and John Stark will serve as executive producers.
