Ten Essential Vampire Films

“Let the Right One In” has been heralded as a modern vampire classic but what other fang based films are must-sees? Movies.ie picks ten of the essentials!

Nosferatu (1922)

Widely considered the first vampire film, Albin Grau and FW Murnau came up with their own vampire tale when they couldn’t secure the rights to Dracula. Aside from being highly influential from a technical standpoint, this chilling tale shows the vampire in its truest form: as a plague vermin that hides in the day. A must for any fang-fan.

Dracula (1932)

Bela Lugosi is synonymous with Dracula – his Hungarian accent made Dracula the Hollywood image we all think of today: “I vant to suck your blood.” You simply can’t have a list of great vampire movies without including this 1931 classic.
