THR has learned that Channing Tatum (‘White House Down’), Zoe Saldana (‘Guardians of the Galaxy’), and Diego Luna (‘Elysium’) are set to lend their voices to the Guillermo del Toro-produced animated comedy ‘Book of Life.’

With Jorge R. Gutierrez directing, the film has been described as a ‘Romeo and Juliet’-inspired love story set during a Day of the Dead celebration and follows the journey of “Manolo, a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart. Before choosing which path to follow, he embarks on an incredible adventure that spans three fantastical worlds, where he must face his greatest fears.”

The voice cast also features the likes of Ron Perlman (‘Pacific Rim’), Ice Cube (’21 Jump Street’), Cheech Marin (‘Cars 2’), Kate del Castillo (‘Trade’), Hector Elizondo (‘New Year’s Eve’), Christina Applegate (‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’), singer Placido Domingo, Ana de la Reguera (‘Eastbound and Down’), Eugenio Derbez (‘Instructions Not Included’), and Danny Trejo (‘Machete Kills’).

‘Book of Life’ is pencilled in for an October 2014 release.
