Tate Taylor to Direct IN THE EVENT OF A MOON DISASTER

Will helm Black List script…

FilmNation Entertainment has tapped ‘The Help’ helmer Tate Taylor to direct the historical drama ‘In The Event of a Moon Disaster.’

Penned by screenwriter and former journalist Mike Jones, the Black List script is inspired by a speech of the same name written by Pulitzer Prize-winning author and presidential speechwriter William Safire.

Safire’s speech, written in 1969, was to be read by President Richard Nixon in the event that the Apollo 11 mission to the moon was met with tragedy. The film will present a fictionalization or alternate reality of the events.

FilmNation’s EVP of Production Karen Lunder commented: “Tate is an incredibly talented artist in every sense, and we have been actively searching for the right project to collaborate on, We’re thrilled to have found it with Moon Disaster.”

Taylor’s latest offering, the James Brown biopic ‘Get On Up’ starring Chadwick Boseman, opens in Irish cinemas September 26th.
