Tarzan Goes 3D

3D Tarzan Remake Swinging Into Cinemas

An animated 3D Tarzan movie is reportedly in the works.

According to Variety, the German Constantin Films has acquired the rights to Edgar Rice Burroughs’s Tarzan novels.

The vine-swinging jungle hero has been knocking around since 1912; the story of a British aristocrat who is abandoned in the jungle as a baby, and who was brought up as a native rainforest dweller. He eventually meets and falls in love with a young American woman, and he has to choose between returning to his people or living in his spiritual home.

The studio plans to release the film in 2012, the year of the character’s 100th anniversary.
