Tarsem Singh to Direct KILLING ON CARNIVAL ROW

Singh replaces Neil Jordan on noir fantasy-thriller.

‘Immortals’ director Tarsem Singh has been tapped to direct ‘Killing On Carnival Row,’ a noir fantasy-thriller that previously had Neil Jordan set to direct.

Scripted by Travis Beacham (‘Pacific Rim,’ ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea,’ ‘Clash of the Titans’), the story follows a detective’s pursuit of a serial killer through the streets of Burgue, a city resembling 18th Century London that is home to humans and other creatures, like werewolves, faeries, vampires and elves.

Producer Anne Kopelson told Deadline, “I am thrilled that Tarsem will direct Carnival Row, which we’ve been developing over the past six years. His extraordinary visual sense and use of light and color can be compared to that of the great 16th Century Italian painter Michelangelo Caravaggio.”

Kopelson will produce alongside her husband Arnold Kopelson. Production is expected to kick off next June in New Orleans. Up next for Singh is ‘Mirror Mirror,’ ’his “sickeningly kiddie” fantasy adventure reimagining of The Brothers Grimm’s ‘Snow White.’
