Susanna White Takes Le Carre Adaptation OUR KIND OF TRAITOR

Espionage thriller hires new director…

British filmmaker Susanna White (‘Parade’s End,’ ‘Generation Kill,’ ‘Nanny McPhee Returns’) is said to be replacing Justin Kurzel (‘The Snowtown Murders’) behind the camera on the John Le Carré adaptation ‘Our Kind Of Traitor.’

Featuring a script by Hossein Amini (‘Drive’), the thriller follows Perry and Gail, a young English couple and Dima, a Russian millionaire who bond after a chance encounter on vacation. What they don’t know is that the charismatic Russian is a big-time money launderer seeking to defect to British intelligence before his vory (Russian criminal brotherhood) compatriots have a chance to take him out.

Production is gearing up for an early 2014 start with Le Carre’s son, Simon Cornwell, serving as producer. Ewan McGregor remains on board to play Perry, while Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen (‘Hannibal,’ ‘Pusher’), who was linked to the role of the Russian oligarch, is no longer involved.
