SUSAN COOPER to Reteam Melissa McCarthy and Paul Feig

McCarthy to play Bond-like super spy.

Melissa McCarthy has reportedly been offered the lead in writer/director Paul Feig’s female-driven spy comedy ‘Susan Cooper.’

Set up over at 20th Century Fox, the project is being developed as a potential franchise and while intended as a comedy, reports indicate the tone will be more realistic, as opposed to previous spy comedies like ‘Get Smart’ or ‘Johnny English.’

The film would mark McCarthy and Feig’s third pairing, having previously worked together ‘Bridesmaids,’ and most recently ‘The Heat.’

Feig is producing the project via his Feigco Entertainment shingle with 20th Century Fox’s Daria Cercek overseeing development for the studio.

‘The Heat’ is in cinemas across the country from today.
