Stefan Ruzowitzky CAUGHT STEALING with Patrick Wilson and Alec Baldwin February 19, 2013 Noir mystery thriller lines up award-winning director. Back in September it was revealed that Patrick Wilson (‘Insidious,’ ‘Young Adult’) and Alec Baldwin (‘Rock of Ages,’ ’30 Rock’) had been cast as the leads in thriller ‘Caught Stealing.’ Now it has been announced that Academy Award-winning Austrian filmmaker Stefan Ruzowitzky (‘DeadFall,’ ‘The Counterfeiters’) is in advanced negotiations to direct. The film, based on the popular novel of the same name by author Charlie Huston, sees Wilson playing Hank Thompson, “a hotshot high school baseball prospect, turned unlucky, going-nowhere bartender who mistakenly gets caught up in a bloody treasure hunt through New York City. It turns out that the cat Hank’s neighbour left in his care is sitting on a secret. Hidden at the bottom of its cage is a key wanted by a sadistic cop (Baldwin), Russian mobsters, a Samoan hit man, and a pair of psychotic brothers.” Ruzowitzky will direct the mystery thriller from a screenplay by David Hayter (‘X-Men,’ ‘Watchmen’). Marcus Chait and James Carpinello of Lost Rhino Films will produce alongside Wilson, with Paula Wagner serving as executive producer alongside Kirk D’Amico of Myriad Pictures.
