Stallone to Play Mobster GREGORY SCARPA

‘Rambo’ star to headline mobster drama…

The folks over at Deadline are reporting that Sylvester Stallone (‘Reach Me,’ ‘Grudge Match’) is set to take the lead in director Brad Furman’s true story biopic ‘Scarpa.’

Featuring a script by ‘Goodfellas’ and ‘Casino’ scribe Nicholas Pileggi, the film will see Stallone playing Greg ‘The Grim Reaper’ Scarpa, a former capo and hitman for the Colombo crime family turned FBI informant.

Scarpa was one of the best-known sociopaths in organized crime and boasted of 50 murders. He was eventually indicted for multiple murders, and died in 1994 from AIDS-related complications in a Minnesota prison.

The project is set up over at Millennium Films with Irwin Winkler (‘Rocky’) and Avi Lerner (‘The Expendables’) producing. Principal photography is pencilled in for an early 2015 start.

Stallone will next be seen in ‘The Expendables 3,’ when it opens in Irish cinemas August 14th.
