Spiderman Joins The Crusaders

Tobey Maguire signs on to upcoming Ross helmed pic ‘The Crusaders’.

Spiderman’s Tobey Maguire will star in the upcoming pic ‘The Crusaders,’ a drama about the landmark 1954 Brown v. Board of Education case.

Gary Ross is attached to direct the film, with Danny Strong to scribe the project.

Maguire will play Jack Greenberg – an idealistic lawyer fresh out of law school, who joins with NAACP Legal Defense Fund head and future Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall to win a Supreme Court case that ruled segregation in American

schools illegal.

Ross, Maguire and Strong have previously teamed on ‘Pleasantville’ and ‘Seabiscuit.’

Strong, a former assistant to director Ross, received an Emmy nomination last week for scripting the Jay Roach-directed HBO film ‘Recount.’ Strong was also a reoccurring character on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, playing Jonathon.
