‘Transformers’ actor signs up for “quirky love story.”

Variety reports that Shia LaBeouf has been tapped to play a giant in writer/director Gil Kenan’s “quirky love story,” working title ‘A Giant.’

A modern day adult dramatic fairy tale that is being described as ‘Lars and the Real Girl’ meets ‘Edward Scissorhands,’ the story follows a girl, broke and running from a series of bad relationships, who moves back home to reconnect with her brother. Instead she forms a relationship with a 20-foot-tall man-child who lives next door.

‘A Giant’ is the first project for David Linde, Tory Metzger and Adam Rymer’s newly created production banner Lava Bear Films. The Jim Henson Company and French vfx company BUF will also produce.
