Jim Sheridan Set For Boston Mob Pic…

Irish director Jim Sheridan has reportedly started working on a film about Boston mobster and FBI informant Whitey Bulger.

Variety reports that Sheridan and partner Nye Heron have written a script based on the book ‘Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob’.

Black Mass told the story of Bulger’s rise as he took over the Winter Hill Gang, which organised gun trafficking for the IRA and drug running.

It also revealed Bulger’s childhood friendship with FBI agent John Connolly, who used him as an informant until he disappeared controversially in 1995.

Production on the film is due to start later this year.
