Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright were in Dublin recently as part of their promotional tour for THE WORLD’S END. While they were here, they filmed a very special episode of UPLOADED for TV3. Movies.ie were lucky enough to be on set for the shoot in 37 Dawson Street and caught up with the lads
In case you didn’t know, UPLOADED – presented by Gordon Hayden – is 3e’s flagship home grown show, and gathers together the finest internet foolery, from mortifying moments to fantastic fails, and everything in between. UPLOADED has had special guest stars in the past – not least the Jackass crew in 2010 – and this week sees the creators of the Cornetto Trilogy join the show in a very special episode, broadcast on TV3.
While the sun blazed on Dublin, Movies.ie found themselves in the gorgeous 37 on Dawson Street, waiting for Simon Pegg, Edgar Wright and Nick Frost to grace us on set. They arrived just as we were in a highly involved discussion about GALAXY QUEST, so we put our discussion on hold and headed to the set.
The UPLOADED team created a wonderful episode for the lads to be involved in, which started with a chat about THE WORLD’S END, and its inception after Edgar Wright spectacularly failed at a pub crawl in his home town of Wells. During the interview, it became obvious that these three filmmakers, who started out together on SPACED in 1999, have remained friends even as their careers have taken them in different directions. The bromance between Pegg and Frost was on full show, and it was clear that Edgar Wright rounds out the threesome very nicely.
Since UPLOADED is a show about awesome Internet oddities, Gordon took the opportunity to ask the guys to showcase their favourite online clips. Simon’s choice – a snake opening a door – gave us chills, Edgar chose an entry into the Empire Done in 60 Seconds competition, and Nick decided to talk us through the wonders of nature with a clip about tornadoes. Of course, Simon could not help but tease his friend about the nerdy clip he chose, and his trademark giggle had us in stitches.
The final round of the show was a pub-style quiz, where Gordon pitted the three against one another. The aim was to answer questions about each other’s films, and the winner would walk away with a very special prize. To find out who won, tune in to UPLOADED on TV3 on Saturday July 20th at 6pm.
And then, after some Cornetto sharing and DVD signing, the lads were gone… Perhaps to find a pub, or perhaps to soak up some of the glorious Dublin sunshine.
