Sci-Fi Take of Homer’s THE ODYSSEY Back in Development

Hollywood moving forward with sci-fi re-imagining.

Deadline has word that Warner Bros. has tapped first-time writer James DiLapo to pen the script for the long-in-development sci-fi take of Homer’s epic poem ‘The Odyssey.’

First announced way back in 2008, the re-imagining once had Brad Pitt attached to star with George Miller set to direct.

‘The Odyssey’ is the follow-up to the Greek poet’s other masterpiece, ‘The Illiad,’ and tracks the exploits of Greek hero Odysseus and his decade-long journey home after the fall of Troy.

Terry Dougas, who hatched the idea of setting the tale in space, will produce the project with his 1821 Pictures partner Paris Kasidokostas Latsis. David Heyman and Jeff Clifford will co-produce.
