Schoenaerts & Thomas Enter SUITE FRANCAISE

WWII romance-drama adds two more.

Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts (‘Rust and Bones,’ ‘Bullhead’) is in final negotiations to star opposite Michelle Williams (‘Oz: The Great and Powerful,’ ‘My Week with Marilyn’) in the WWII romance-drama ‘Suite Française.’

The film is based on the second section in Irène Némirovsky’s gripping and heartbreaking 2004 novel and follows the unhappily married Lucile Angellier (Williams), whose husband, Gaston, is off at war. Left under the supervision of her overbearing mother-in-law, Madame Angellier, Lucille’s only escape is playing the piano. Villagers in the town are forced to house Nazi officers and Lucile soon finds an attraction developing between her and Bruno von Falk (Schoenaerts), the young German officer billeted in their house.

Kristin Scott Thomas is attached to play the role of Lucile’s mother-in-law with filming set to kick off in London next year with ‘The Duchess’ helmer Saul Dibb in the director’s chair.
