SAVING MR. BANKS Helmer to Direct McDonald’s Film THE FOUNDER

Script likened to ‘The Social Network.’

Multiple outlets are reporting that John Lee Hancock (‘Saving Mr. Banks,’ ‘The Blindside’) is in talks to step behind the camera for ‘The Founder,’ a film that will tell the story of McDonald’s rise in the fast food empire.

The Robert Siegel-penned screenplay is said to be in the vein of Fincher’s ‘The Social Network,’ showing how Ray Kroc went from a simple salesman to one of the most powerful moguls in the world after transforming Richard and Maurice “Mac” McDonald’s burger operation into a billion-dollar empire.

According to Variety, Tom Hanks and Michael Keaton are in the running for the role of Kroc.

FilmNation is producing along with Jeremy Renner and Don Handfield, who will produce through their Los Angeles-based production banner, the Combine.
