Sanders to Tackle GHOST IN THE SHELL Adaptation

Live-action adaptation moving forward…

‘Snow White And The Huntsman’ helmer Rupert Sanders has signed on to take the director’s chair for the 3D live-action adaptation of the Japanese manga, anime and game franchise ‘Ghost In The Shell,’ says Deadline.

The futuristic police thriller, created by Masamune Shirow, follows the exploits of a member of a covert ops unit of the Japanese National Public Safety Commission that specializes in fighting technology-related crime.

‘Ghost in the Shell’ was first published in 1989, and went on to generate two additional manga editions, three anime film adaptations, an anime TV series and three videogames.

Sanders will be directing from a script by William Wheeler (‘Hoax, ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’). Avi Arad, Ari Arad and Steven Paul are producing.
