Actor turning his hand to directing.

Variety reports that Ryan Phillippe (‘The Lincoln Lawyer,’ ‘The Way of the Gun’) is set to make his directorial debut with the indie thriller ‘Shreveport,’ in which he’ll also star.

Penned by Phillippe and Joe Gossett, the films sees Phillippe playing a “fading movie star who is suddenly kidnapped, held hostage and tortured while filming a low-budget film in the Louisiana city.”

‘Shreveport’ is scheduled to begin principal photography this summer with Phillippe producing alongside Holly Wiersma (‘Bobby’) and Mark Burg (‘Saw’).
