Russo for the IFTAs

The latest IFTAs update.

Rene Russo has confirmed that she will attend the 5th Irish Film and Television Awards in support of her friend and colleague Mel Gibson. Gibson will recieve the Outstanding Contribution to World Cinema Award.


Rene has starred alongside Mel Gibson in three feature films. Their first collaboration was in 1992’s ‘Lethal Weapon 3’, where she played the memorable part of Lorna Cole, a martial arts-practicing internal affairs detective.  The actress followed with performances in ‘In the Line of Fire’, ‘Outbreak’, ‘Get Shorty’ and ‘Tin Cup’, before starring alongside Gibson once again in the action thriller ‘Ransom’.  Their third film together was in 1998, when she reprised her role in ‘Lethal Weapon’ in the fourth instalment of the successful series.Rene has also appeared in the feature films ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’, opposite Irish actor Pierce Brosnan, and ‘Two for the Money’, with Al Pacino and Matthew McConaughey.


 


The Awards ceremony will be broadcast on RTE One at 9.30pm on 17 February
