Mara in, Mulligan out.
Variety is reporting that ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ star Rooney Mara has entered final negotiations to star in Spike Jonze’s untitled next.
Starring Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams and Samantha Morton, Jonze’s screenplay centers on a man who falls in love with the voice of a computer, similar to the Siri feature on the new iPhone. Fans of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ may remember a similar storyline in a recent episode.
While details of Mara’s role are unclear, the actress will be replacing ‘Shame’ actress Carey Mulligan, who was forced to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.
The untitled film will be Jonez’s first time back in director’s chair since 2009’s ‘Where the Wild Things Are.’
