Ronda Rousey Leading ROAD HOUSE Remake

UFC women’s bantamweight  champion Ronda Rousey (‘Fast and Furious 7,’ ‘Entourage,’ ‘The Expendables 3’) has been tapped to take the lead in the upcoming reboot of ‘Road House’ for MGM.

Starring Patrick Swayze, Kelly Lynch and Sam Elliott, the throat ripping original followed James Dalton (Swayze), a professional “cooler” (head bouncer) with a mysterious past who is hired to tame a dirty bar in Missouri only to find himself falling foul of a corrupt businessman (played by Ben Gazzara).

Rousey confirmed her involvement with the following Tweet:

“It is a great honor to play a part in celebrating the life of a man that inspired so many. I couldn’t be more grateful to have this opportunity to pay respect to the beloved Patrick Swayze…I promise to work incessantly to make sure this project is a tribute his family and fans can be proud of.”

The studio is out to writers to tackle the script, with filming slated to begin next year.
