Ronan Macfadyen Williams Gleeson and Riseborough Join ANNA KARENINA

Benedict Cumberbatch pulls out due to scheduling conflict.

The Daily Mail reports that Joe Wright’s next, an adaptation of Leo Tolstoy’s eight-part novel ‘Anna Karenina,’ had nabbed itself some new additions.

Joining the Tom Stoppard-penned adaptation are and Saoirse Ronan, Andrea Riseborough, Olivia Williams and Domhnall Gleeson. They join the previously announced Keira Knightley, Jude Law, Aaron Johnson and Kelly Macdonald.

Matthew Macfadyen also joins the cast, replacing Benedict Cumberbatch, who was set to star. The actor had to remove himself from the project due to scheduling conflicts with his WWI-era miniseries ‘Parade’s End.’

‘Anna Karenina’ tells the story of a woman stuck in a loveless marriage who becomes a social outcast when she has an affair with an aristocrat.
