Romero Remaking Deep Red

George A Romero to remake Deep Red

George A. Romero is in negotiations to direct a 3D remake of Dario Argento’s 1975 cult classic Deep Red.

Set to start shooting this fall in Canada, the film will be penned by Argento’s brother, Claudio, who served as an executive producer on the original film.

The story centres on a musician who witnesses a murder, and then joins with a reporter to find the killer and unlock a dark secret.

Argento had previously collaborated with Romero as a producer on Dawn of the Dead in 1978, and by co-directing Two Evil Eyes in 1990.
