According to the folks over at THR, Sony Pictures is close to snapping up the rights to Gavin James and Neil Widener’s ‘Romeo & Juliet’ retelling ‘Verona.’
The spec script is said to re-imagine the Shakespearean tale of two young star-crossed lovers from rival Italian families through “”a lens of an epic, 300-style world.” Further details are under wraps.
Joe Roth (‘Maleficent,’ ‘Snow White and The Huntsman,’ ‘Alice in Wonderland’) is attached to produce.
