Romanek and Blanchett team for thriller…

Back in 2013 it was revealed that David Mamet was set to take the director’s chair for the “Hitchcockian nailbiter” ‘Blackbird.’ Now, 2 years on, the folks at The Tracking Board have learned that ‘Never Let Me Go’ and ‘One Hour Photo’ helmer Mark Romanek has stepped in to direct.

Cate Blanchett (‘Blue Jasmine,’ ‘The Hobbit’) remains attached to lead the thriller, playing the granddaughter of a famous Hollywood visual effects artist who discovers dangerous conspiracy secrets from her grandfather’s past that will put her and her son’s life in danger.

Romanek will direct the thriller from a screenplay penned by Mamet, with Scott Rudin, Eli Bush and Lila Yacoub producing.
